OTSEGO COUNTY, Mich. -  On Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at approximately 11:13 a.m. a trooper from the Michigan State Police Gaylord Post responded to a call of an alleged assault that took place at the Dollar General store located on M-32 Highway. The suspect had already left the scene.

The trooper spoke with the victim, who alleged 34-year-old Adam Spencer Knuteson from Johannesburg, had threatened him with a knife in the parking lot. The incident began inside the store when Knuteson was arguing with a store employee. The victim told Knuteson to leave the store and the police were being called.

The victim followed Knuteson out to the parking lot where the alleged assault took place.

The trooper spoke with witnesses at the scene and reviewed surveillance footage from the store. The suspect, Knuteson, was interviewed at his residence. Knuteson denied the allegations. A report was turned over to the Otsego County Prosecutor’s Office and an arrest warrant was authorized on Jan. 24. Knuteson was served the warrant while incarcerated in the Otsego County Jail on a separate charge.

Knuteson was arraigned this week in the 87-A District Court in Otsego County on one count assault with a dangerous weapon. His bond was set at $1,000 cash bond. His next scheduled court appearance is on Feb. 6.
