Multiple fire departments are on the scene of a fire involving two structures on the corner of Helen Street and Leroy Street in Sault Ste. Marie.
The call came in at around 6 p.m. when a fire was reported at a building with five apartments. It is unknown at this time if anybody was home in any of those units.
Soon after, the fire spread to an adjacent house, which is also used as a rental. That house is being renovated with no tenants inside.
Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department, Soo Township Volunteer Fire Department, Bay Mills Township Volunteer Fire Department, Dafter Township Volunteer Fire Department, Sault EMS, Sault Ste. Marie City Police and Chippewa County Victim Services Unit all responded.
Sault Ste. Marie Street Department has put up barricades around the neighborhood.
