Robert Lawrence Murray, age 84, died at MyMichigan Medical Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., on Aug. 28. He was born April 1, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pa. to William Thomas and Theresa Sophia (Gross) Murray.

Robert grew up and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1959, where he was a cook on the ships. After his honorable discharge, he did some traveling. Robert met Danuta at the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City. They moved to Sault Ste. Marie and were married and decided to settle there. Robert worked for Kewadin Casino in the shipping and receiving department. He retired from the casino to stay home and care for his wife.

Robert was a member of the American Legion Post #3 of Sault Ste. Marie.

Robert loved to play limit Texas hold’em cards. He enjoyed wearing his leather jackets and riding his B-52 motorcycles and adored his cat “Baby”.

Robert is survived by his sister, Lois Riddle of Brentwood California, and stepson, Pete Spiliotis of Sault Ste Marie.

Robert was preceded in death his wife, Danuta; and parents, William and Theresa.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
