Carmen Marie Rose, fondly known as Marie, age 72, went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2025. She was born on May 22, 1952, in Fordham, Bronx, New York to Willam and Mary (Zapata) Torres.

She raised her daughters in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and worked most of her career as a Laboratory Tech at War Memorial Hospital. She married her forever partner, Wayne Rose, in May of 2003. They moved to Taylorsville, Kentucky, in 2009 and recently moved back to the Sault to be with family in 2024.

To have known Marie was to know love. She was everyone’s “mama” and will be so incredibly missed. She was a strong woman, not one to be overly sentimental or emotional but always connecting with people deeply through her presence. If you had a problem, she would listen carefully and always have the perfect thing to say to keep you positive, while remaining realistic. She was a naturally genuine person, always keeping it completely real, never hiding how she felt was a strong suit. She had friends of all ages because she was able to relate to everyone from such an authentic place in her own heart. As a mother, she kept her home open and ready to host everyone at all times. She always had a delicious pot of food going and her flan and tostones were second to none. Her kitchen was her equivalent to Wayne’s woodshop, and she was never alone in it, as her dogs were always directly under her feet. The couple have been home to many animals throughout the years, starting with Dozer and Jazzbo, followed by Lucy, Beau, Sandy and Oliver.

Marie was a giant kid at heart, preferring to watch the latest Disney or Pixar movie to any drama or horror like most adults. She loved her games and could be found playing Roller Coaster Tycoon or SIMS, but she especially loved to Play Nine, a golf card game she bought on a whim while working as a travelling consultant for Kindred Health. She and Wayne were always competing to be the winner of Play Nine. She always came home with a new game to try. She was incredibly tech savvy and among her belongings were video games of all sorts.
Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, and painting. If she texted you to ask for a photo it was likely because she was about to make a painting for you. She picked up the paintbrush later in life but was an absolute natural at it and her talents surprised us all. She and Wayne would collaborate on cute projects the whole family could enjoy.

Marie is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Rose; daughters, Nina (Josh) Nelson of Marquette, Michigan, Marisa (Adam) Raycraft of Alma, Michigan, Miranda Nelson of Sault Ste. Marie, Jennifer (Tim) MacMaster of Sault Ste. Marie, and Jackie Rose of Sault Ste. Marie; son, Ian (Inga) Rose of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Alexis Armstrong, Gabriel Armstrong, Camryn Crouch, Elliott Crouch, and Grace MacMaster; sisters, Susan (Jada) Delgado of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Michelle Torres of Kissimmee, Florida.

Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Zapata Delgado.

A celebration of life will be held in the Summer of 2025.
