When Chuck and Sherry Kruch first opened up Reina Recycling and Resource Recovery in March 2023, they did not know what the community response was going to be. They just knew that their passion for recycling, conservation, and helping keep the environment clean was something they had to share.
Reina is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization set up for educational purposes and to benefit the public.
A year-and-a-half later, the Kruchs say Reina is successful and now look to expand their services.
At their open house Saturday, several people dropped off batteries, televisions and other electronics.
Some of the electronics, especially the nostalgic ones, will be refurbished and be available for purchase at their new and upcoming Retro-Electro resale store.
It's a store for those nostalgic folks who love vintage electronics from decades ago. They will accept donated electronic items, such as older computers, laptops, phones and tablets, TVs, VCRs or even electrical components with vacuum tubes.... whether they work or not. All items will be reasonably priced to sell.
All monies made from Retro-Electro will go right back into the recycling program.
In addition to the resale shop, part of the new building will be used for educational purposes.
"I hear so often thanking us for doing this. People really a place to take things. They don't want to put things in the dump. There are not a lot of places to take electronics. We want to generate more interest in support for recycling," Sherry said.
The location of Retro-Electro is not secured yet but will be announced on their Facebook page.
