Meet ‘New Year’s Baby, 2022’ – Archer

Chippewa County welcomes its first baby of 2022 at War Memorial Hospital

A baby named by the flip of a shiny quarter was delivered into the world at War Memorial Hospital at 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, crowning him ‘New Year’s Baby, 2022.’

Proud parents to Archer Allan Haske are Jason and Arielle Haske of Cedarville.

“It’s definitely a pretty exciting thing,” Arielle said. “We will remember it years from now and won’t forget it!”

“It was really unexpected,” Jason added. “We were happy with the title. It was a nice surprise!”

Arielle was delighted to report her labor and delivery went well, following a caesarean section only a year-and-a-half prior.

“Everything went very smoothly,” Arielle said. “We came in around noon on Sunday. I had a repeat c-section scheduled after my daughter, who is 18-months now. It was scheduled for Thursday, but I went into labor on Sunday night. The contractions were regular and consistent by Monday morning.”

Registered Nurse Shannon Warner said baby boy Archer weighed six pounds and 10 ounces at the time of birth. He was 19 inches long.

However, it took a little longer than expected to decide on the perfect name post-delivery.

“It is kind of funny,” said Jason. “We just picked out our favorite names and went off the list. It was well into the evening before we chose his name. We flipped a coin at the last second.”

As for Archer’s elder sister, she was named after beloved family members.

Mr. and Mrs. Haske thanked War Memorial Hospital for an assortment of baby gifts.

“We got an embroidered blanket that said, ‘New Year’s Baby, 2022,’ diapers, gift certificates and toys,” said Jason. “It was above and beyond. We are very grateful for the care we’ve received every step of the way. Every single person, even the cafeteria staff, did wonderfully. We couldn’t be happier.”

According to the War Memorial Hospital website, its birthing center is equipped with eight private rooms and wireless monitoring system, allowing the mom-to-be walk around the unit, converse and shower while being monitored.
