6:45 p.m. update
A release from police this evening confirms that a break-in happened at Krist gas station around 6 a.m. this morning.
Merchandise was taken during the break-in, which happened while the store was closed.
Police say that more information will be released "at a later time."
There is no known threat to public safety at this time.

A police presence is visible at Krist gas station on Easterday Avenue near Lake Superior State University on Wednesday morning.
As of 9:40 a.m., police tape is around the driveway entrances at the business with Sault City Police on scene.
Police Chief Wesley Bierling told SooLeader that no information will be released at this time.
