On Monday, January 20, 2025, at approximately 12:44 p.m. troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post were called to a crash that occurred on US-131 near Corey Road in Chestonia Township.
A preliminary investigation indicates a 2022 Chrysler Voyager was being driven north bound on US-131 by a 49-year-old woman from Boyne City.
A 2012 GMC Acadia was headed south bound on US-131 driven by a 22-year-old woman from Mancelona.
The driver of the Chrysler lost control, crossed the center line, and struck the 2012 GMC.
The driver of the Chrysler was killed, and the driver of the GMC was transported to McLaren Northern Michigan hospital in Petoskey with non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation
