MSP Traverse City Post gets new commander

FLt Roger Craig has been named the new commander of the Michigan State Police's Traverse City Post.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is proud to announce the promotion of First Lieutenant Roger Craig as the Michigan State Police (MSP) Traverse City Post Commander.

F/Lt. Craig is a native of Greenville, Michigan. F/Lt. Craig enlisted into the Army National Guard in 2006 and earned his bachelor’s degree at Central Michigan University. In 2011 he was commissioned as an infantry officer and completed a combat tour in Afghanistan.

F/Lt. Craig began his career with the MSP on May 2013, as a member of the 125th Trooper Recruit School. His first post assignment was at the MSP Metro Post as a trooper. F/Lt. Craig was assigned in the Secure Cities Partnership where he worked in Detroit, Inkster, Pontiac, Highland Park, Harper Woods, and Hamtramck. He was promoted to sergeant at the Metro North Post. F/Lt. Craig transferred to Gaylord Post as a sergeant and then Traverse City Post where he was promoted.

He began his new role as the post commander on Aug. 4, 2024. He will oversee post operations at the Traverse City Post covering Benzie, Grand Traverse, and Leelanau Counties.
