On October 4, 2024, just after 7:00 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Traverse City Post were dispatched to a residence in Peninsula Township to investigate a residential alarm. The homeowners were not home at the time of the alarm. Upon arrival, troopers located evidence of forced entry, and the master bedroom had been ransacked. Surveillance video from a neighboring residence was provided to investigators which showed a male in dark clothing walking towards the victim’s home just before the alarm and running away a short time later.
As a result of a joint investigation between the Michigan State Police and the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, and with the help of newly deployed Flock Safety traffic cameras, the suspect was identified as 23-year-old Jordan Jesus Moises Schocko from Traverse City. Further investigation revealed Moises Schocko attempted to pawn stolen jewelry at a local pawn shop where he was captured on surveillance video.
A report was turned over to the Grand Traverse County Prosecutor’s Office for review. A two-count felony warrant was authorized on December 16, 2024. Moises Schocko was located and arrested at his home later that same day where he was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail.
Moises Schocko was arraigned today in the 86th District Court in Grand Traverse County on one count of Felony Home Invasion and one count Receiving & Concealing Stolen Property.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post.
