Michigan State Police vehicles shot, lit on fire

Police searching for suspect described as a white male wearing camouflage and driving a silver Honda CRV

The Michigan State Police report a suspect wanted in connection with an early morning incident at the Eighth District post in Sault Sainte Marie is still at large and an active search for him is underway.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

"Multiple patrol vehicles at the Sault Ste. Marie Post were lit on fire and struck by rifle rounds at approximately 3:30 a.m.," said police in a social media post.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing camouflage and was last seen driving a silver Honda CRV southbound on the I-75 Business Loop.

No one was in the vehicles vandalized and no troopers were injured, say police.

People are being asked to avoid the area of the Michigan State Police post on the I-75 Business Spur in Sault Sainte Marie while police conduct their investigation.

The post will remain closed for the day but other area posts are open during regular hours.
