WEXFORD COUNTY - On Wednesday, at approximately 11:50 a.m., a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post conducted a traffic stop on West River Street near Mitchell Street in Cadillac after the driver was observed holding his cell phone while driving and the vehicle’s windshield was cracked. The driver was identified as 50-year-old Heath Elhannon Markham from Cadillac. A further investigation revealed Markham to be in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, suspected heroin, suspected psilocybin mushrooms, a digital scale, and small plastic baggies. Markham was also in possession of three counterfeit $50 bills. Markham was arrested and lodged in the Wexford County Jail.
Markham was arraigned Thursday in the 84th District Court in Wexford County on one count Delivery/Manufacture Methamphetamine Second or Subsequent Offense, one count Possession Cocaine Under 25 Grams Second or Subsequent Offense and Habitual Offender Fourth Offense Notice. He was given a $100,000 cash surety bond. His next scheduled court appearance is on Feb. 25, at 2 p.m.
