Gaylord man charged with drug possession on school property

A Gaylord resident is facing charges after police found them in possession of suspected methamphetamine and crack cocaine.

The Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement (SANE) team is announcing the arrest of 40-year-old Charles Thomas Beckner from Gaylord, for delivery of controlled substance on school property, delivery methamphetamine, and possession less than 50 grams.

On Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, SANE arrested Beckner during a traffic stop in Otsego County after he was found to be in possession of approximately 57 grams of methamphetamine and 13 grams of crack cocaine. Beckner was lodged in the Otsego County Jail.

Beckner was arraigned in the 87-A District Court in Otsego County for one count controlled substance on school property, one count delivery of methamphetamine, one count possession controlled substance, and one count possession less than 50 grams. He was given a $50,000 cash surety bond.

SANE was assisted by troopers from the Michigan State Police Gaylord Post and officers from the Gaylord Police Department.
