When Sault Ste. Marie Police Department received a report of a man allegedly urinating in the roadway Thursday morning, investigating officers found the man was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant downstate.

When the investigating officer arrived at Bermuda Avenue in the Shallows-Lakeshore subdivision, where the subject was last seen the officer spotted the man fitting the description given to police.

The man, described as a black male wearing grey sweatpants and a hooded sweatshirt, was sitting by a firepit. Upon seeing police he walked into the woods.

Officers from Sault PD, US Border Patrol, and an MSP K-9 Unit searched for the subject in the woods and he was located and taken into custody without incident.

The subject was lodged at the Chippewa County Jail—the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department was assisted by the following agencies: Chippewa County Central Dispatch, Michigan State Police, and US Border Patrol.

Police did not release the name of the man they were searching for.
