ANTRIM COUNTY - On Monday, Nov. 6, 2023 at approximately 6 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post responded to a report of a three-vehicle crash on US-131 near Corey Road in Chestonia Township.

The preliminary investigation revealed two pickup trucks traveling southbound on US-131 were involved in a collision. This initial collision caused one of the pickup trucks to then collide with an SUV traveling northbound on US-131. In total, five persons were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries. One patient was airlifted to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. A 15-year-old was later flown to the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids for further medical treatment.

The driver of the at-fault truck, a 40-year-old man from Elmira, may have been intoxicated. The speedometer of the at-fault vehicle indicated it was traveling 105 mph upon impact. Troopers are awaiting the results of a search warrant for the at-fault driver’s blood. The crash remains under investigation.

The Antrim County Sheriff’s Office, EMS, and several fire departments assisted at the scene.
