Frederick Vern Wiser Sr., age 58, of Raco, Michigan, passed away Sunday morning, October 20, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center Sault. The youngest of 8 brothers and 1 sister, Frederick was born on August 19, 1966, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to Russel David and Lillian Marie Wiser.

Frederick attended East Jordan Public Schools in East Jordan, Michigan. He grew up hunting and fishing with his brothers and sister all over northern Michigan and the upper peninsula. He married Tina Marie Mcsawby on May 2, 1987, in East Jordan. He worked at the East Jordan Iron Works for many years, he also worked as a painter for a while and worked maintenance at the Bay Mills Resort and Casino.

Frederick was a crafty man and carried on his family tradition of making blueberry baskets. He loved listening to the radio and jamming out to his classic rock. He liked to play board games as a family, like monopoly, or an occasional chess game, but his favorite game to play was cribbage. He enjoyed sitting around the fire and swapping deer and fish stories often, with the fish and deer getting bigger the next time the story was told. He loved to hunt, fish, go on bike rides, bird watch, pick blueberries and sweet grass, cook his famous Raco chicken, and do anything that involved spending time with his loved ones. He can be described as laid back, caring, goofy, accepting, outgoing, and outdoorsy. Frederick was a family man who was devoted to helping others when in need, and he loved his beloved dog Boo-boo Ann. He wasn’t always nice though, they called him Fred Bear for a reason, and he was one of the toughest men there was.

Frederick is survived by his wife, Tina (Mcsawby) Wiser of East Jordan; his sons, Frederick (Angel) Wiser Jr. of East Jordan, Broderick (Sara) Wiser of East Jordan, Blake (Lexi) Wiser of Brimley, Michigan; stepson, Anthony Stainbrook of East Jordan; brothers, George (Cindy) Wiser of Clearwater, Michigan, Kalvin (Alice) Wiser, Donald Wiser, and Douglas Wiser all of Raco, and Wilbur (Debra) Wiser of Eckerman, Michigan; and six grandchildren, Alexis, Elias, Riley, Alaina, Gracelynn, and Kayson.

Frederick was proceeded in death by his father, Russel David Wiser; mother, Lillian Marie Wiser; brothers, Russel (JR) Wiser, Lindon Wiser, Steven Wiser; twin brother, Broderick Wiser; and his sister Catherine Leech.
