Roy Allan Parr, age 87, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died at MyMichigan Health Center in Sault Ste. Marie on March 10, 2024. He was born on July 29, 1936, in Sault Ste. Marie to Arthur and Gertrude (Underhill) Parr.

Roy grew up on Neebish Island, Michigan, and after attending Sault High School, he sailed on the freighters, working as a fire hand and deckhand, for three years. He worked a few odd jobs until he began working for Mich.Con and DTE for thirty-seven years. He met Lois Jean O’Brien at a local pub, and they married on September 28, 1968, in Brimley, Michigan, and settled in Sault Ste. Marie. He retired in 1996, and they spent their winters in Arizona.

Roy was a member of the Moose Lodge in Sault Ste. Marie.

Roy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed traveling, cutting wood, hunting, fishing, camping, fixing anything he could get his hands on, boating, and sailing. He loved spending time with his family, listening to music, and spending time on his farm.

Roy is survived by his wife, Lois; daughters, Gayle (Gary) Rogers, Nancy (Gary) McLeod, and Lana (Brian) Terwey; sons, Roy (Michelle) Parr and Keith (Robin) Parr; grandchildren, Jennifer and Chad Rogers, Ryan McLeod, Krista Isreal, Luc McLeod, Josh Parr, Jacob Parr, Emilee Tyner, Julia Parr, and Joey Parr; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Fred Parr.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur, and Gertrude; brothers, Herbert Parr and Robert Parr; and sisters, Margaret Bohlman, Dorothy Vallone, and Edith Parr.

Memorial Contributions can be made out to a charity of your choice.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at the Soo Township Hall, 639 3 1/2 Mile Rd., Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.

Final Resting Place will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan.
