Raymond Edward Lee Sholberg, age 83, of Sugar Island, Michigan, and Blind River, Ontario, Canada, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 20, 2025, at his home. Raymond was born in Dearborn, Michigan, on December 9, 1941. He was the son of Raymond and Alice (Davis) Sholberg.

In 1959, Raymond graduated from Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn. After school he became certified as a licensed electrician and was employed at Rousku Electric. He recently received an award for his 60 years of service and membership to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was enlisted in the Army National Guard until 1969, then he moved North to Blind River, Ontario, with his wife Diane, to own and operate Log Chateau Lodge where he enjoyed guiding and sharing his passion of the great outdoors with his customers. After 20 years in Canada and raising their 4 children, he was able to spend his time between Harbor Springs, MI, and Lake Matinenda before settling on Sugar Island.

Raymond was a traditional, fun, loving man who was passionate about the great outdoors, his family, and his Christian faith. He loved life and lived it to the fullest every day! Ray, also known as Papa, Ray Ray, Bald Eagle, Bunny or Mayor of Matinenda, always had a funny story, an adventure, or a lesson to share with you even if you had just met him. He loved to share his faith with everyone he came in contact with. He was known for his straight forward honesty, so you never had to guess what he was thinking. Any spare moment you would find him on his boat fishing or hunting with family or the many friends that he had. His favorite place was at his camp in Teachers Bay on Lake Matinenda. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Raymond is survived by his children, Trisha (Erik) Berakovich, Thomy (Christine) Sholberg, and Tanya (Michael) Sherman; grandchildren, Michael, Milla, Joseph and Alice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Alice; daughter, Terri Sholberg; mother of his children, Diane Sholberg; and sister, Margaret Clark.
