Annette “Annie” Klara (Beaulieu) Peterson, age 88, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on February 22, 2024, at Medilodge in Sault St. Marie. She was born on December 8, 1935, in Sault Ste. Marie to Armand and Ila (Luoma) Beaulieu.
Annie grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and graduated from Sault Area High School. She was involved with the Sault Salvation Army Church as a teenager, which she said, “Had a positive impact on her direction in life”. In 1959, she went to nursing school in Marquette, Michigan, and was affiliated for seven months in Iron Mountain, where she met her husband, Clayton Peterson. They married in 1963 and adopted two children, Lee Annette in 1967 and Michael Clay in 1969. They resided in Sault Ste. Marie and raised their family.
Annie was affiliated with many organizations and churches, St. John’s Lutheran, Salvation Army, Faith Lutheran, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She volunteered for Chippewa County Hospice, Chippewa Historical Society, Chippewa County United Way, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts.
Annie enjoyed fishing, writing poetry, playing cribbage, and walking. Her favorite place was Ozark, Michigan, where the family made a lot of fond memories on their half-acre of land.
Annie is survived by daughter, Lee Ann (Dennis) Hank of Sault Ste. Marie; son, Michael Peterson of Hampton, Virginia; grandchildren, Johnathan (Felicia) Izzard, Nathan Izzard, Brandon Jenkins, Kristen Peterson, Michael Peterson; great-grandchildren, Lily Izzard, Ashton Izzard, Adriana Izzard, Abel Izzard, Axelyn Izzard; great-great grandson, Levi Crumpler; brother, Bernie (Esther) Beaulieu of Sault Ste. Marie; nephews, Dale Beaulieu, Brian Beaulieu, and Robert (Kirstyn) Beaulieu; and her dear friend from the age of 14, Robert (Reed) Behre.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Peterson; parents, Armand and Ila Beaulieu; brother, Michael Beaulieu; and nephew, Tim Beaulieu.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Summer of 2024 at Annie’s favorite beach and picnic area. The details will be announced at a later time.
