John Allen Sweeney, age 70, died on February 5, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born on March 23, 1954, in Sault Ste. Marie to Richard and Edna (Harrison) Sweeney.
John grew up in Pickford, Michigan and attended Pickford High School. He was a hard-working guy with many different trades, helping farmers during the hay season, truck driving and laborer for construction jobs. He worked for the Local International Union of North America, Local 1329, in Iron Mountain.
John enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and working on cars.
John is survived by his wife, Lorraine; daughters, Alyssa M. Wimer of Kincheloe, Michigan, Jackie and Jenny Sweeney; sisters, Connie McConkey of Pickford and Patty (Tom) Lamb of Pickford.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Edna; brothers, Jim and Mike Sweeney; sister, Sharon Ryan; and brother-in-law, Dale.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Rotary Island Park, Sault Ste Marie, on April 26, 2025 at 1:00 P.M.
