Eva Flossy Spencer, age 91, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, died on November 8, 2024, at Medilodge in Traverse City, Michigan. She was born on February 6, 1933, in Capac, Michigan to Henry and Nellie (Deming) Bowman.

Eva attended the Adult Alternate High School and was a devout member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she participated in various church-related activities. Eva dedicated much of her life to her family and community, embracing roles as a housewife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother with unwavering love and commitment.

Eva was deeply involved in her community; she was the cherished Den Mother when her sons participated in the Cub Scouts, a vibrant member of the Soo Senior Citizen Club House, and an enthusiastic member of the Red Hats. Her sociable nature drew her to various activities that supported and uplifted those around her. Eva’s dedication to enhancing the lives of her friends and family was evident in everything she did, and her involvement in her grandchildren’s lives left a lasting impact. She was a cherished member of her community and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Eva enjoyed gardening, creating flower arrangements, working with Artex paintings, traveling, and engaging with adult coloring books, each reflecting her artistic spirit and love for beauty.

Eva is survived by her sons, Larry (Patti) Spencer of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and David Spencer of Ellsworth, Michigan; grandchildren, Jessica (John) Downs of Harrisburg, Oregon, Brandi (Mark) Trvdon of Quebec, Canada, Kenneth (Alexandra) Spencer of Fort Johnson, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, William (McKayla), Cythia, Riley, Griffin, River; great-great grandchildren, Colt and Hallie; and sisters, Inze (Paul) Gilman, and Ruth Ward.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Nellie; brothers, Neil, Steve, Bruce, Wayne; and sisters, Grace and Julia.

A celebration of Eva’s life will be announced at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be sent to Chippewa County Animal Shelter, 3360 S. Mackinac Trail, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan or an animal shelter of your choice, or Arbor Day, reflecting Eva’s love for animals and nature.
