The Sault High Blue Devils hockey team got off to an explosive start to the season by dominating the Elks Showcase held at Big Bear Arena in Sault Ste. Marie this past weekend.
The Blue Devils went 2-0 manhandling the Milford Maveriks 9-1 Friday evening, then beating the Lakeland Eagles 4-1.
Milford scored first Friday night, then the Blue Devils poured it on scoring nine goals. The Blue Devils never trailed in the game against Lakeland.
Senior Cam Labadie was exceptional in the net for the Blue Devils only allowing the two goals.
The game against Lakeland was quite physical and chippy as twenty-two combined penalties were called compared to only two in the game against Milford.
The Blue Devils make the long trip to Cleveland Ohio this Thanksgiving holiday weekend to play three games in three days. On Friday, they play Lakewood St. Edward, Saturday they face Liberty Center, and on Sunday, Toledo St. John's Jesuit.
