The Blind River Beavers saw Owen King tally twice, including notching the game-winner, while teammate YiBin Yoo dished out three assists in 3-2 triumph over the Soo Eagles Sunday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League matinee at the Blind River Community Centre.
With the result, the Beavers have now won six games in a row, while the Eagles saw a victory run of 10 come to an end.
Sault Ste. Marie opened the scoring seven and a half minutes into the match-up when Nolan Nemecek redirected a rising Cole Wreggitt attempt from the left point that got past Blind River netminder Bronx Bodnar.
Coming back to tie it 12:16 into the second stanza, the Beavers got the equalizer when Jack Kruiderink steered in a feed put in front by Yoo to give him goals in three straight outings.
The home side then took the lead before the intermission when Yoo dropped a puck in the slot to King who wired it into the top right-hand corner to give him points in eight straight contests.
Needing just 25 seconds to draw level into the third period, Cooper Fredericks notched the equalizer by getting a piece of a knuckling puck that managed to get elude Bodnar.
The tally, along with an assist to Alex Povorozniuk, sees the duo both etch their names on the game sheet for a 10th consecutive contest.
Coming back to retake the lead eight minutes later, King tallied for a fifth time in two games and he took a pass after an impressive dash up ice by Yoo and sizzled it past Knoerle from the left circle.
Getting their goalie out late on regulation, the Soo pressed to knot the affair once more and send it to overtime, however Blind River held firm defensively to secure the triumph.
With the result, the Beavers improve to 22-9-1-1 on the campaign while the Eagles drop to 26-7-0-2.
