MASSEY, Ont. - Backed by a multi-point night by Copper Fredericks, the Soo Eagles skated to a 4-1 victory over the Elliot Lake Vikings Friday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League get together held at Massey & District Community Arena.

Picking up his team-leading 14th goal of the season, Fredericks gave Sault Ste. Marie the lead as he redirected in a Lucas Caulfield shot from the left Elliot Lake netminder Ryder Lally.

Staying 1-0 Eagles into the middle frame, they extended their edge during a power play as Caulfield had a couple of in-close cracks before sweeping one in from the top of the crease.

The Vikings got one back during a late man advantage when Dayden Collier scored in his NOJHL debut by whipping in a chance from the left of Soo goalkeeper Mason Burkes.

In the third, the Eagles got an early marker when Benjamin Pouliot wired a shot past Lally right the right circle.

They then added some insurance with a quick counter in the neutral zone that led to Alex Povorozniouk roofing a feed from Fredricks at 13:56 to round out the scoring.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 10-6-0-1 on the campaign, while with the setback, the Vikings slip to 4-11-0-0.
