The first widespread snow of the season arrived this morning with several slide-offs reported.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Luce, Chippewa and Mackinac counties in the Eastern U.P. until 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Meteorologists at the Weather Service say 3" - 6" of snow are expected with locally higher amounts around 8" possible. They also note that the heaviest snow providing the worst travel conditions will be from 5pm to 10pm today.
Plan on slippery road conditions with accumulating wet snow. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.
As this system pulls out of the region Tuesday, the area will see Lake Effect snow showers for the rest of the week providing some areas with additional accumulations.
