The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office has teamed up once again with County Commissioner Scott Shackleton to hold its annual holiday food drive Saturday, Dec. 7. The two have teamed up to put on this event for well over two decades.
Previously, the event was held in two locations, but this year a third location has been added.
The event will be held in the parking lot at Walmart on the Business Spur, downtown at Pat's Foods, and also at Northern Sand and Gravel (located in front of Meijer) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All three locations will accept non-perishable food items but also frozen turkeys and hams.
In addition to the food, new unwrapped toys and cash will be accepted.
All items will be donated to the Sault Ste. Marie Salvation Army to be distributed to those in need for the Christmas season.
Employees, family members and friends from the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office all donate their time.
In previous years, the event has weathered blizzard conditions at times but has also seen pleasant 50 degree conditions.
