UP Health System is pleased to welcome Crystal Caughy, PA-C, MMS, to the Family Medicine Sault Ste. Marie clinic. Caughy joins UP Health System from Baltimore, MD, where she worked in anesthesia and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins University Hospital.
Caughy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Gerontology from the University of South Florida before completing her physician assistant training at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, MD. She has garnered experience working in many areas of medicine throughout her training and career; including family medicine, emergency medicine, pediatrics, urgent care, OB/GYN, and surgery.
In her new practice, Caughy will provide primary care services for the whole family; including annual, well-child, and sports physicals, chronic and acute illnesses, diabetes care, preventative health, women’s health and contraception, nutrition counseling, and care of minor injuries.
Caughy believes in treating patients as individuals with unique needs and perspectives on their care. “I believe patient care should encompass physical, emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual support. I understand the value of high-quality patient care and being an advocate for each of my patients,” Caughy says.
Having grown up in Michigan, Caughy’s goal has always been to eventually return to her home state. She looks forward to joining the Sault Ste. Marie community to care for patients and raise her family. Outside of work, Caughy enjoys visiting museums, cooking, playing piano, hiking, swimming, and exploring the beautiful Upper Peninsula with her husband and twins.
