You don’t need to kick up dirt or even wait until the next NASCAR race to find the future Kyle Larson. He could be on the ice right here in this area.
The Cozy Corners in Barbeau hosts Sprint cars on Ice at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Put on by Great Lakes Lightning Sprints – GLLS, the race has been dubbed the 1st Annual St Mary’s River Roar.
This weekend’s host is the Cozy Corners, where owner Sara Gordon has seen the ice behind her property being transformed from ice-pond hockey rinks to Sprint car races.
Gordon says it’s the first time the Sprint Car races have extended from their winter homes on Houghton Lake to the Upper Peninsula and that her business is already feeling the affects of the racing circuit.
“It’s bigger than what I would ever imagine it would be,” Gordon said.
Gordon says she is working with local casinos and businesses to turn this first event into an annual one.
