A late-season winter storm will affect the area this evening through early Thursday morning, with rain/sleet and snow increasing this afternoon into the early evening hours.
Later this evening, snow is expected to take over and continue through the overnight period.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Western Chippewa County and Western Mackinac County from 5pm today until 11am Thursday for a chance to see up to 9" of snow. This area is mainly west of a Brimley/Rudyard/Brevort line.
A Winter Storm Warning is also in effect for Luce County from 3 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Thursday for up to 6" of snow.
Winter Weather Advisories have been posted for Central and SE Chippewa County and Eastern Mackinac County from 5 p.m. today until 11 a.m. Thursday for a chance to see up to 6" of snow. This area is mainly east of a Brimley/Rudyard/Brevort line. Least amounts of snow will be farther SE of Pickford towards Drummond Island.
Strong northerly winds will create blowing and drifting of the snow later tonight through Thursday morning.
