October bridge crossings up 257% from October 2021

Numbers were up for most vehicle classifications though the number of commercial trucks crossing one way was down

The latest traffic crossing numbers from the International Bridge Administration show a significant increase for the month of October over the same period in 2021.

With a total of 69,610 crossings in the past month, the total marks an increase of 257.7 percent over 2021 and continues a year-to-date increase in one-way crossings.

Of note, commercial truck traffic for the month was down 7.3 per cent.

The total number of one-way crossings in 2022 up until the end of October were 508,754, an increase of 234.2 per cent over last year.

A breakdown of crossings for the month of October include:

  • Full-fare passenger cars: 34,005 (up 640.5 per cent)
  • Commuter fare: 27,891 (up 259.6 per cent)
  • Car pulling trailers: 1,891 (up 1,891 per cent)
  • Commercial trucks: 5,823 (down 7.3 per cent)
