Two new tools make it easier for patients to plan their visits to MyMichigan Community Care in Sault Ste. Marie. Current wait times for the clinic are now posted on MyMichigan Health’s home page and updated every five minutes during business hours so that patients can “know before they go.” Once inside the clinic, a tracking board helps registered patients monitor their place in line.

“These tools help our patients anticipate what to expect so they can plan ahead for a more satisfactory experience,” said Jesse Rye, practice manager for MyMichigan’s non-surgical Specialty Clinics in Sault Ste. Marie. “For example, they may be able to choose a less busy time to come in for care, or if they have small children, they can bring activities to make the wait less stressful.”

Community Care offers same-day walk-in care for minor illness on a first-come, first-served basis, with no appointment necessary. Open seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the clinic is located in the Medical office Building at 509 Osborn Boulevard, Suite 106, near MyMichigan Medical Center Sault.

“The Wait Times Indicator shows a real-time average, based on the current queue, of how long the next walk-in patient is likely to wait between registering and seeing a provider,” Rye explained. “We use live data from our Epic electronic medical record to calculate the estimate, and it’s automatically updated on the website every 5 minutes. The wait time measures the time spent waiting for the visit to begin, however your total time spent with us will depend on the nature of your condition. Individual wait times may also be longer or shorter than the estimated average.”
