MIDLAND – For the third straight year, MyMichigan Health has been named to Forbes Magazine “America’s Best Employers By State” list. The award is presented by Forbes and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. Of the 75 Michigan organizations listed, MyMichigan ranked 12 and was second on the list of Michigan healthcare systems under the Healthcare & Social Services industry category.
“It’s an honor to be included among America’s best, and we are committed to continue fostering a workplace where people feel valued, engaged and inspired to serve others,” said Lydia Watson, M.D., president and CEO, MyMichigan Health. “With Forbes, one of the leading names in business, recognizing our health system not just one year, but three in a row, is a testament that our employees are as important to us as they are to the people to which they care for.”
To create the list, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey more than 160,000 employees working for companies with at least 500 people within the United States. Survey participants were asked how likely they were to recommend their employer on a scale of zero to 10. Respondents were also asked to evaluate employers they’d worked for within the past two years, and organizations they knew within their industry or through friends or family who worked there.
Responses, received from all 50 states and Washington, D.C., were then tallied and incorporated into a scoring system, along with survey data from the past three years. Greater weight was given to the more recent data and to the responses from current employees within the state. Companies that received the highest scores in each state made our list, with each state ranking between three and 101 employers, depending on the size of the state and the number of responses received. 1,294 organizations were named to America’s Best-In-State Employers 2024 list.
The evaluation was made on a state-by-state basis and is based on three distinct criteria: In-state indirect recommendations, National in-industry indirect recommendations, Direct recommendations. Furthermore, Employees were asked to give their opinions on a series of statements surrounding work-related topics of e.g. working conditions, diversity, salary, potential for development, and company image regarding their current employer.
