'Go Momma Go!' runner earns spot in Guinness Book of World Records

Dani Filipek recently ran in the Detroit Free Press Marathon's one-mile race pushing her three young children in a stroller to earn her a spot in the record books

"Go Momma Go!"

That is the coolest thing Dani Filipek experiences while running with her three children.

People cheer her on in races, or just running recreationally, by yelling it out.

"It's probably, like, my number one thing why I run. It’s better than any record I’ve ever had. It’ll bring tears to my eyes because I just love being a mom," Filipek said.

She has been running most of her life. One would think at 32 years old and having three young children, she would slow down.

In reality, she has sped up.

A couple of weeks ago, she participated in the Detroit Free Press Marathon and brought home a world record.

“I was running with my kids and I said, ‘What’s going to give me a goal’? And I think as parents we lose our goals right? Because we are focused on everybody else. So I was like, what will keep me excited after postpartum? I’m going to be running with these kids all the time, so you know what? Let's try to do something that has never been done before,” she said.

Filipek kept her word, and now her name will be going down in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest triple-stroller mile-time in the mile division of the Detroit Free Press Marathon.

“It was so electric. It was so much fun. The start and finish, it was a little bit of a slower course, but it was a mile,” she said.

Filipek rocked it.

Her official time in the one mile, while pushing a stroller with her three young children, was 6:41. In the age 30-34 female category, she finished 3rd out of 59. 11th female overall of 570. 54th of 887 overall in both genders.

Yes, she rocked it all right.

Filipek has such a positive attitude about running and life.

“Running brought me and my husband together. It keeps us together. We have our own running business called Yooper Running. We love to bring running to the community. Whether you’re walking, you’re running, or wheeling, you can do anything with running. It doesn’t have to be stereotypical running, but it promotes great health, mentally, physically, and emotionally," she explained.

Filipek hopes to inspire other mothers to go chase their dreams.

“Go out and try something, even if it’s just 10 minutes. We mothers are real-life superheroes. So carve out some time for you,” she said.

Filipek said she should get the official documents from Guinness in a couple of months.
