More people heading across the river, according to latest stats

Commuter fare crossings saw an increase of over 20 per cent last month over September 2023

Traffic numbers on the International Bridge were up in the month of September over the same stretch in 2023.

Traffic numbers released by the International Bridge Administration this morning show an increase of 11.4 per cent over September 2023 after 109,539 vehicles crossed the span joining the twin Saults last month.

A breakdown of individual traffic follows:

  • Full-fare passenger cars: 54,158 (up 5.5 per cent from September 2023)
  • Commuter fare: 44,580 (up 21.2 per cent)
  • Commercial trucks: 5,748 (up 8.9 per cent)
  • Car pulling trailers: 5,053 (up 1.7 per cent)

As of Sept. 30, the year-to-date numbers show 849,624 crossings, an increase of 15.7 per cent over the same period in 2023.
