Final Sherman Park clean up of the year a success

Children dressed up in their favorite costumes and the Wolfshager Hexenbrut Dancing Witches of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, provided entertainment

The final Sherman Park Clean-Up Event of the year ended Wednesday evening with the Wolfshager Hexenbrut Dancing Witches of Sault Ste. Marie Michigan performing several dances.

Around two dozen people showed up at 6:30 p.m. to make one more trip around the popular park to pick up any debris and garbage.

At 7 p.m., the Dancing Witches fired up the music and danced around and entertained the participants.

While the number of people showing up to help with the clean-up was down compared to the first one several weeks ago, organizers say it was still a success.

"There are more things going this time of year in the community so people are busy. I am still happy with the turnout. Even if everyone picked up one piece of trash, it makes the park that much nicer. Plus, it was awesome to see all the kids in their costumes. They were all so cute," said Dani Filipek, organizer of the event.

Kandi Radtke, the leader of the Dancing Witches, was glad to be a part of the event. Her group of witches volunteer their time to spread fun and smiles. Filipek just recently joined the Dancing Witches.

"We are very happy to be involved with what Dani is doing. She approached us and we love to help the community any way we can," Radkte said.

Apple cider, donuts and candy were provided making it feel very autumn-like.
