Sault Ste. Marie City Manager Brian Chapman said the city parted ways with former Downtown Development Authority's (DDA) Antonio Cutler once learning news of his arrest and charges on Monday morning.
“I am a DDA board member,” said Chapman. “We put out a job posting. It will take three weeks to interview and make a decision. It will take two-and–half-months to recruit someone.”

The manager is responsible for overseeing and directing the development of the downtown business district, organizing promotional activities, developing budgets, maintaining financial oversight and coordinating needed maintenance.
The DDA will continue to operate and run events as scheduled.
Cutler was arrested on Tuesday, May 10 in Charlevoix County on two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the second-degree causing personal injury.
According to Charlevoix 90th District Court records, Cutler posted bail in the amount of $20,000.
Cutler pleaded not guilty on Tuesday.
The case is currently being handled by Emmet County Prosecuting Attorney James Linderman.
A pre-trial is scheduled for May 24 at 9:30 a.m.
The alleged date of offense occurred in July of 2021.
Cutler served the City of East Jordan as commissioner from November 2011 through August 2014.
He was a business and marketing teacher at Boyne City High School from August 2015 to July 2017. He held the same position at Mancelona Schools from August 2017 through August 2019.
Cutler served as district director for Sen. Wayne Schmidt at the Michigan State Senate from May 2016 to January 2020.
Cutler ran for election to the Michigan House of Representatives to represent District 105, losing the Republican primary in August 2020.
