Bridge crossings up 270% over January 2022

The International Bridge administration today announced that one-way traffic crossings of the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie totalled 56,162 for the month of January 2023. Traffic for the calendar year-to-date on Jan. 31, 2023, is 56,162. This represents a year-to-date increase of 270.1% compared to 2022. The bridge has processed 104.5 million bridge crossings since 1962. 

This difference in crossings comparing 2023 to 2022 is 40,989, which represents an increase of 270.1% for the month of January.

An analysis of traffic statistics for the month reveals the following:

The International Bridge funds operational costs with toll revenue, including the bridge structure, maintenance facilities, the Bridge Authority toll plaza, and building maintenance.
