MISSAUKEE COUNTY, MI. – In September 2022, the Michigan State Police (MSP) Houghton Lake Post received a referral from Children’s Protective Services of an alleged sexual assault of two children that occurred between 2010 and 2015.
The children recently realized what happened to them was wrong and reported the incidents to a parent. The incidents occurred in Missaukee County. The victims are now living downstate.
The MSP Metro North Post assisted with the investigation. The victims were interviewed at the Oakland County Care House.
The investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued on March 29 for 31-year-old Timothy James Edwards from Madison Heights.
Edwards was arrested by the MSP 2nd District Fugitive Team and lodged in the Oakland County Jail. He was transported to the Missaukee County Jail on April 6.
Edwards was arraigned on April 7 in the 84th District Court in Missaukee County on one count Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree (Victim under 13), and one count Criminal Sexual Conduct Second Degree (Victim under 13). He was given a $100,000 bond.
His next court appearance is on April 20 at 1:30 p.m.
