William Fredrick Tolliver, age 83, of Kincheloe, Michigan, died on December 25, 2023. He was born on June 29, 1940, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to Owen and Bessie (Smith) Tolliver.
William grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and attended elementary school at St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Clarksville High School. He enlisted in the United States Marines after graduation, and upon being honorably discharged he attended a trade school and then worked for Mexport, a tool and dye company in Detroit, Michigan. He moved to Cedarville, Michigan and met Marlene Filipeck, married in 1973 and started their family. William and his family moved out to California for work for five years before moving back to Cedarville, Michigan briefly and finally settling in Kincheloe where William worked for the State of Michigan Department of Corrections for over twenty years.
William was an honorary lifetime member of the Jokers Motorcycle Club, Detroit Chapter, and he was also a member of the Moose Lodge.
William enjoyed watching sports, especially the Detroit Lions, Pistons, and Red Wings. He loved having his pets around him, hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, and playing cribbage.
William is survived by his daughter, Sylvia (Gary) VanLeeuwen of Lake City, Michigan; sons, Claude Petitpas and William Eugene Tolliver, both of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; eleven grandchildren; and sister, Judy (Rick) Lapoint of Cedarville.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Tolliver; daughter, Patricia A. Brown; Son, Michael J. Brown; father, Owen Tolliver; and mother and stepfather, Bessie and Warren Coutu.
