Dorla Maria Reid, age 83, died on October 22, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born on July 14, 1941, in Alta, Michigan, to Robert and Maxine (Roark) Johnson.
Dorla grew up in Lake Odessa, Michigan, and graduated from Lake Odessa High School. Dorla attended two years at Graceland and later attended Lake Superior State University. She worked for several community service organizations such as Rudyard Schools and JKL Bahweting PSA. She cared for many people and was a foster and adoptive parent.
Dorla was a member of the War Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Lake State Softball League.
Dorla loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She played many sports and was a sports fan and enjoyed taking her grandchildren to many games. She also liked music and singing.
Dorla is survived by her husband, Art Reid; sons, Jaime (Lynn) Methner, Joel (Renee Schwiderson) Methner, Art (Mary) Reid Jr.; daughters, Jen (Matt) Strong, Crystal (Mark) Blackwood, Pat Johnson; grandchildren, Logan (Kyle TenEyck) Methner, Bryn Methner, Miranda (Alex) Rairigh, Aurora Blackwood, Max Blackwood, Ken and Rebecca Reid; great-grandchildren, Bo and Iris Rairigh; siblings, Arloa Thomas, Carol Redebaugh, Yvonne (Dan) Howe and Robert (Kim) Johnson Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews; and former husband and close friend, Jerry Methner.
Dorla was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Maxine; son, Jerel Methner; and father-in-law, Gordon (Marge) Reid.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Dorla’s memory to Hospice of the EUP, 308 W 12th Ave. Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.
