Patricia “Patty” Ann (Matheny) Clement, age 66, of Dafter, Michigan, died on August 29, 2024, at MyMichigan Center Sault. She was born on July 26, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, to Gilbert and Arbutus (Sheets) Matheny.
Patty grew up in Gary, Indiana and graduated from River Forest High School. She started waitressing for several years until she met Vern Clement. They drove the truck together for five years and returned home to Sault Ste. Marie in 1986. She drove dump trucks and moved mobile homes for Vern’s company “Clements.” She began working for AMI in 2014.
Patty was involved with racing cars at Elmira, Onaway, and Kinross for fifteen years. She did demolition derby for twenty-two years, youth bowling league for three years, and coached special needs for five years.
Patty enjoyed hunting, racing, growing her plants, playing bubble witch, and riding and showing horses for over ten years.
Patty is survived by her husband, Vern Clement; daughters, Angela Clement of Sault Ste. Marie, Jamie Mackanos of Vegas, Nevada, Jody Downs of Sault Ste. Marie; son, Kyle (Ashley Flippen) Clement of Sault Ste. Marie; grandchildren, Michael, Dominic, Jaylee, Patrick, Danielle, Willow, Adalyne; brothers, Mike (Nella) Matheny of Gary, Indiana, Gregg (Linda) Matheny of Sault Ste. Marie, Gary Matheny of Sardis, Tennessee, and Terry “Bo” Matheny.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Arbutus; and sister-in-law, Virginia Matheny.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at the Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49774.
