Jill N. Gustafson, age 65, of St. Ignace, Michigan, died on February 28, 2025, at her home. She was born on March 21, 1959, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Thadeush “Ted” and Carol (Lipnitz) Niewiada.
Jill grew up in Michigan and lived in multiple towns throughout the state. She graduated from LaSalle High School. She began her career at the Municipal Building before meeting the love of her life, Paul. After their marriage, she started working at the Water Department, where she dedicated forty-three years of service before retiring in 2020.
Jill had a zest for life and a love for simple joys. An avid reader, she found comfort in books and was a devoted library visitor. As a proud Players Club Card Member, she always looked forward to trips to the casino. She had a creative spirit, finding joy in painting, and she cherished time spent outdoors hunting. She also loved unwinding with her favorite TV shows. A passionate sports fan, Jill cheered fiercely for Michigan State University and the Detroit Tigers. Above all, she had a deep love for her dogs, who brought her endless happiness.
Jill is survived by her husband of 40 years, Paul; stepsons, Pete (Kathleen) Gustafson of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Eric (Ellie) Gustafson of Owosso, Michigan; grandchildren, Emmorie Gustafson, Eli Gustafson, Landon Gustafson, Ava Gustafson, Jackson Gustafson, and Lincoln Gustafson; brother, Michael (Debra) Niewiada; sister, Robin (Bruce) Gaugush; brothers-in-law, Mike (Jodi) Gustafson and Jim (Mimi) Gustafson; sister-in-law, Sandra (Doug) Lillywhite; and many nieces and nephews.
Jill was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Carol.
Per Jill’s wishes, no services will be held.
