Junia Carr Jarvie, age 91, of Mackinaw City, Michigan, died on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. She was born on November 11th, 1933, to Delmar and Thelma (Pulling) Carr in Dansville, Michigan.
She enjoyed growing up on the family farm and graduated from Dansville High School in 1951. While attending Michigan State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree she met the love of her life, Elmer Jarvie. They married on June 20, 1953 in Texas. Elmer and Junia moved to Nashville, Michigan, where they raised their family. In retirement, Junia loved spending summers at their cottage on Long Lake and winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Junia was a dedicated teacher and an outstanding homemaker, renowned for her sewing abilities and delicious cooking. Junia spent many hours doing community service and loved helping others. She was one of the two original founders of the Maple Valley Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
Junia is survived by her children, Mark (Kathy) Jarvie of Cheboygan, Michigan, Joy (Ted Alex) Redmond of Leesport, Pennsylvania, and Joseph (Julie) Jarvie, of Rudyard, Michigan; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Junia was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Thelma Carr; and sister, Elizabeth (Carr) Arnold.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring on a date to be determined.
Internment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Dansville, Michigan.
