Carol Lynn McCammond, age 70, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at the Ball Hospice House in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born on October 31, 1954, in Sault Ste. Marie to Harold “Speed” and Helen (Payment) Finner.
Carol was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, graduating from Sault Area High School with the class of 1972. She raised her two children, Tammy and Rick, while working at various local businesses, including the Soo Co-op Bakery, and eventually retiring from the War Memorial Hospital.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Richard) Hall of Jacksonville, Florida; son, Richard Mackie of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; grandchildren, Shanelle (Nick) Santoro, Yazmyn Atkins, Paris Hall, Evan Kennedy, and Hendrix Mackie; brother, Larry (Valerie) Finner; sisters, Shirley Wright of Lake City, Florida and Connie (Ted) Eby of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; and her beloved friends, Susan Belleau and Suzie Veldt.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband, David McCammond; and parents, Speed and Helen.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Carol to the Ball Hospice House, 308 W. 12th Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, 49783 or North Woods Home Care and Hospice, 226 S. Cedar Street, Manistique, Michigan, 49854, as they made her final hours peaceful and comfortable.
