Bernard “Bernie” Beaulieu, age 86, passed away on December 11, 2024, at his home in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born on October 30, 1938, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Armand and Ila (Louma) Beaulieu.

Bernie grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and graduated from Sault High School, with the Class of 1956. He enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country and was stationed in Alaska. When he returned home, Bernie met his wife Esther in Iron Mountain, Michigan, and they were married in 1961. They returned to Bernie’s hometown of Sault Ste. Marie to live and raise their family, while he worked at the Corps of Engineers as a Lock Master. He retired in 1994, after thirty-five plus years of service.

Bernie loved going to the family cabin that he shared with his sons, and spending time with family. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Esther; sons, Dale, Brian, and Robert (Kirstyn) Beaulieu; granddaughters, Brynn and Iyla Beaulieu; nieces, Lee Ann (Dennis) Beaulieu and Sharon (Steve) Ryan; nephew, Michael Peterson; along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bernie was preceded in death by his son, Tim Beaulieu; grandson, Patrick Beaulieu; father, Armand; mother, Ila; brother, Michael Beaulieu; sister, Annette Beaulieu; and brother-in-law, William “Bill” Irvin.

A family Graveside Memorial will take place in the spring.
