Barbara Jean (Cochran) Fisher, age 90, of DeTour Village, Michigan, died on July 17, 2024, at Harbor View Assisted Living. She was born on August 12, 1933, in Moran, Michigan, to Lionel and Victoria “Becky” (Beck) Cochran.
Barbara grew up in DeTour Village and graduated from DeTour High School. After graduation, she met Raymond Fisher Sr. and they married on November 27, 1954, in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan. They made their home in Garden City Michigan, where they lived for 15 years raising their children. Barbara and Ray then decided to resettle in DeTour Village purchasing Barbara’s family restaurant Fisher’s Fine Food which they owned and operated for over 40 years. After retirement, Barbara enjoyed her time with her close companion, Ray Woods and his extended family.
Barbara was a member of the DeTour Union Presbyterian Church.
Barbara loved serving her community. She built a lifetime of friendships with not only her previous employees, but her customers from the restaurant over the years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and hosting events for her family and friends. But above all, she adored spending time with her children and her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean Woods of DeTour; sons, Daniel Lionel (Denise) Fisher of Seal Beach, California, and Raymond Alfred (Jayne) Fisher of Petoskey, Michigan; grandchildren, Jeremy Woods, Danielle Woods, and Jacy (Nick) Deschermeier; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Colton and Christian; sister, Betty Young; and brother John Cochran.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Raymond Sr.; son, David Fisher; parents, Lionel and Becky; brother, Chuckie Cochran; and son-in-law, Lewis Woods.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the DeTour Union Presbyterian Church (166 Ontario St. DeTour Village, MI 49725). The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 Noon, with a luncheon to follow immediately.
Final Resting Place will be Oaklawn Chapel Gardens, Bruce Township, Michigan.
