TIMMINS – The Timmins Rock saw Alex Tremblay tally twice, including notching the game-winner, in a 4-1 triumph over the Soo Eagles in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Thursday at McIntyre Arena.

Some crisp puck movement on the night’s initial power play saw Timmins get on the board three and a half minutes into the match-up, when Thomas Beard knocked in a rebound off a Brant Romaniuk attempt from the top of the right circle, past Sault Ste. Marie netminder Jace Knoerle.

With the primary assist, Romaniuk extended a point streak to nine in succession.

The rest of the frame was scoreless as the Rock carried their narrow edge into the first intermission.

Doubling their lead by connecting on the man advantage at 3:19 of the second period, Tremblay redirected in an Elijah Pool attempt from up top.

Coming right back, Tremblay tacked on another moments later as took a Travis Poan feed, powered his way up ice and while driving hard to the net, neatly tucked his chance between the legs of Knoerle.

A third extra-man effort on the evening saw Timmins go up 4-0 when Lucas Lowe tipped in a Romaniuk attempt while he was parked at the top of the crease.

The Eagles got one back at 13:06 of the session as Coulson Bell jammed in a second chance while battling in front of Rock netminder Dryden Riley for his fourth goal of the season.

Tightening up defensively, a scoreless final frame saw Timmins skate away with the home ice win.

The victory for Timmins was their seventh in a row as they moved into a tie with the Michigan Soo for fourth place in the NOJHL standings with 58 points apiece.
