The Sault High Blue Devil wrestling team wrapped up their 2022-23 season with a banquet celebrating their successes.
The team had many newcomers to the sport this year, but thanks to great coaching and hard work by the athletes, they had a very successful season.
Overall, the team had a winning record in team duals (23-8), brought home the Straits Area Conference Championship, won both the Boyne City and Pellston invitationals, and placed sixth in the U.P. Championships.
Individually, the team had several wrestlers with winning seasons, going undefeated at various tournaments this season, and qualifying for individual regional and state competition.
Individual award winners at the banquet included Cody Russo, Sportsmanship Award; Will Ohman, Most Valuable Player Award; Caleb Klier, Best First Year Wrestler Award; Calvin Aldrich, Most Improved Player Award; and Chris Kiekhafer, Coaches Award.
