Posting a second straight shutout, the Soo Eagles soared past the Blind River Beavers 8-0 in a Saturday slot on the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League schedule at Pullar Stadium.

After blanking Espanola Friday, the Eagles took flight 8:49 into the match-up when Lucas Caulfield redirected a Gabriel Fisher point attempt past Beavers’ starter Bronx Bodnar.

Converting on a man advantage opportunity, Sault Ste. Marie made it 2-0 thanks to Alex Povorozniouk, who took his time on the right side, where he cruised into the circle and ripped one into the top right-hand corner.

The marker sees him run a point streak to 12 straight outings.

Carrying their cushion into the middle stanza, the Soo capitalized on an early giveaway that allowed Zach Sweitzer to convert as he lifted in a close-range backhand after being initially denied.

Breaking it open, the Eagles’ Ilian Danilov darted down the left wing and while powering his way to the slot, sent a sizzler past Bodnar, who was then replaced by back-up Connor Dunham-Fox.

The home side kept it going and notched two more to go up by six with still over a half a game to play.

After Landon Stevens jammed one in off a goal-mouth scramble, Coulson Bell was found alone in front, where he took his time before ripping in his third of the season.

Returning to the line-up after missing Friday’s one-sided triumph over the Paper Kings, Cooper Fredericks clicked on a power play as he pumped one over the blocker of Bodnar, who had come back into the game.

The marker gives Fredericks at least one point in each of his previous 11 appearances, along with goals in his past four.

An extra-man effort off the stick of Tyler Fortson in the third saw an eighth different goal scorer find the back of the net for the Soo to finish it off.

The Eagles’ Jace Knoerle was there when called up to post his second shutout of the season, a night after teammate Mason Burkes registered his first.
