The warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. Friday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning until 7 a.m. Friday for Central and Western Chippewa County and Luce County.

This warning is due to lake effect snow squalls off Lake Superior and Whitefish Bay.

Areas that are expected to see the heaviest snow include Paradise, Brimley, Bay Mills, Sault Ste. Marie, Sugar Island, Raco and Dafter. Several more inches of snow are expected through tonight.

Wind gusts over 35mph will cause blowing and drifting and make travelling hazardous.
